VA - Blue Note 75th Anniversary Package Flac and Mp3
This is a set of 75 Jazz Albums. I have both 24-bit/192 kHz flacs and 320 CBR mp3's for this collection.
Astell & Kern, working with Blue Note Records, released a special package of their AK-240 player which included this set of 75 albums. These albums are in 24 bit/192 kHz flacs. That is the highest audio resolution that I have seen. The package included a special edition of the AK-240 with blue trim. The 75 albums are already loaded into its memory. But the set also includes (as "backup") all 75 albums in special packaging. Each album is on a separate micro-SD card and there is a stand to hold these 75 albums. This seems like overkill considering that the set will fit on a single 128 GB micro-SD card. Anyway, this whole set cost a cool $4,500.00 at release. Now that the AK-380 is out, I have seen some discounts, especially without the "backup" tower.
I wanted to add more value than simply putting up a mirror on Mega. I retagged the collection. Mostly I made the tags self-consistent. But I also removed watermarks in the comment fields. I made sure that each flac had a 600x600 pixel album cover. Most of the jpg album covers in the flacs had a watermark inside them. They're all gone now. I repacked the albums into new rar files with a 5% recovery record. Meer tells me that the old files had been blacklisted on some sites. These new rar files should be ok for now. This is more than just repacks, almost all of the internal files saw some change.
The collection includes a book and Meer had jpgs of each page. I took these and created a pdf of the book. I also collected those 600x600 album covers and created a pdf of that. While I was waiting on the uploads, I also grabbed 600x600 images of the back covers and created a third pdf with front and rear covers. And I found some pictures of the Astell & Kern set so I added those.
I also created a set MP3's for this package. I believe that good 320 CBR MP3's can rival CD sound quality, but CD's are only 16 bit/44.1 kHz which doesn't set the bar very high. These flacs are 24 bit/192 kHz. There is no hope that MP3 can rival this quality. But if you don't have audiophile level equipment they might be good enough. For the record, I have an IBasso DX-90 with Westone w60 earphones and on that rig the difference is quite noticable. I have not listened to every album yet, but I have listened to a lot of this collection.
The albums are mostly from the period when Blue Note was an independent record company. The list of artists is amazing... Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Art Blakely, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Cannonball Adderley, the list just goes on and on. But only the last 5 albums were recorded after 1968, which shows the effect that losing their independence had on the label. The only glaring omission is Chick Corea... I'm surprised we see nothing by him. Still this is a great Jazz collection.

The art work which includes some jpg files and some pdf files is all in a 1.13 GB rar file called BNart.rar at this link
Now for the flac files. At this extreme high definition resolution the flac files are very large. I bought a 128 GB OTG thumb drive which I can attach to my DX-90. The flac files barely fit with less than 5 GB to spare. After you unrar my files and thus lose that 5% recovery record, the flacs themselves add up to about 112 GB, so I expected to have more space left over. But I guess some space gets wasted in the process. There are 75 rar files and my spreadsheet says the average size is 1.57 GB. They are named BNhq01.rar through BNhq75.rar.
