VA - Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

This list was published by Rolling Stone Magazine to 2004. In 2010 they published a revised list. What I have here is the original 2004 list. This was published on another site. The music was great -- everything is 320 CBR MP3's. But there was some room for improvement with the tags. I retagged the collection. I found a cool new graphic to serve as the album art which is shown above. I also added a playlist file, but you will need over 31 hours to play it all the way through. The new rar file has a 5% recovery record. I am not going to post a tracklist. But while the collection was in my tag editor I was able to sort on various tags and gather some interesting trivia about the collection. The earliest song is Rollin' Stone by Muddy Waters from 1948. And the latest song is Hey Ya! by Outkast from 2003. Only three songs from the current century made the list. Just eyeballing the list as sorted by years, it is clear the the 1960's are the decade with the most so

VA - Now That's What I Call Music [1 > 49]

Richard Branson started this series in (Ireland +) The UK. That series is now in the Eighties and most (maybe all?) of them are double CD's. What I am sharing here is the US series. It started later, number 49 has only been out a few weeks. The US series is mostly single disc. Instead of nothing but hits, a fair number of tracks are from obscure artists trying to get started. The US discs have hits from a few months ago rather than current hits. And they often have radio edits where songs are edited for content to get past the FCC. Some DJ's love this and the radio edits often appear nowhere else. But many folks would prefer the unedited songs. Despite the shortcomings I really like this series. Be aware that in addition to the the UK and US versions, other countries also have their own versions. You may well have, for example, a Now 13 that is different from mine. I did as much research as I could to ensure that these really are the US versions. And I am sure tha

VA - Rolling Stone Magazine Top 100 Albums

Image
Rolling Stone Magazine published an article that selected the top 500 albums of all time. This is a collection of the first 100 albums on that list. These 100 albums are all 320 CBR MP3 files which is great for quality. However the price to be paid is that the collection is very large. Remember, this is 100 complete albums in 320 CBR format. You will need some time to download it all 001: 1967 - The Beatles - Sgt. VA - The Great Vocalists of Jazz & Entertainment

This is a blast from the very distant past. I'm in my 60's and this stuff is well before my time. So I am not expecting a real large audience for this material. My hope is that a few people will treasure it. This is a 20 volume set where each volume is a double CD which gives a total of 40 CD's. This is a lot of material. The CD's sound like they were sourced from vinyl discs. There are occasional pops and clicks. The fact that they have a vinyl sound will probably be a plus to anyone who grew up listening to this stuff. This set was posted in flac format with one large flac file (with cue file) per disc. I recoded it into individual MP3's (320 CBR's). I corrected a few tagging errors, generated playlist files for each disc and volume, and upgraded the artwork a bit. Here are the volumes... Volume 1. Frank Sinatra - I'll Be Seeing You Volume 2. Nat King Cole - It's Only A Paper Moon Volume 3. Perry Como - With A Song In My Heart Volum

VA - Time Life Rock Series

This is one of the many Time-Life Sets and it has what seems like a rather generic series title. This set is focused on roughly the 1965 - 1975 era. There are 6 separate albums in this set. Each album has 2 CD's and each CD has exactly 15 tracks. That totals up to 180 tracks. I have tagged this as 6 separate 2 disk albums. This collection is all 320 CBR MP3's. I made a playlist file for each of the 6 albums. And there is a playlist for each disc. Hard & Heavy disc 1 01 - Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone (03:18) 02 - Judas Priest - Breaking The Law (02:38) 03 - Brownsville Station - Smokin' In The Boy's Room (02:59) 04 - C.C.S. - Tap Turns On The Water (03:43) 05 - Saxon - 747 (Strangers In The Night) (03:41) 06 - Knack - My Sharona (04:03) 07 - ZZ Top - Legs (04:35) 08 - Cheap Trick - I Want You To Want Me (Live) (03:41) 09 - UFO - Doctor Doctor (04:03) 10 - Deep Purple - Strange Kind Of Woman (03:45) 11 - Heart - Barracuda (04:24) 12
